Given the current situation at Prince Rupert port, COSCO expects port congestion will not improve within the next few weeks.

To avoid service being heavily affected by this congestion, COSCO has decided to apply a change of destination— from Prince Rupert Terminal to Vancouver-Centerm Terminal—for all IPI cargo destined to Canadian inland terminals on the CPNW service.

This is a temporary measure, which will be applied only to the below CPNW voyages:

XIN OU ZHOUQ94031N
CSCL AMERICARXH009N
XIN FEI ZHOUR27036N
CSCL OCEANIAR55012N

For the first two voyages, the XIN OU ZHOU has almost arrived in PRR, and the CSCL AMERICA is about to leave her last port of loading (Shanghai).

Once again, this operation is due to the current congestion in PRR. COSCO’s goal is to have all cargo delivered to ultimate destinations as soon as possible. Based on current data, they are confident that this measure will help customers avoid congestion in PRR and shorten the average dwell time at Canadian West Coast terminals.

Omnitrans will continue to monitor the situation.
