The peak season surcharge has been postponed again. Effective September 1, 2008, CTSA member shipping lines will implement a PEAK SEASON SURCHARGE for ocean freight shipments from Asia to Canada as follows:

NEW BORDER-CROSSING FACILITY OPENED AT ANDOVER, NEW BRUNSWICK

A new border-crossing facility at Andover, New Brunswick was opened on July 10, 2008. The new facility provides improved service to both public and commercial clients crossing the border between Perth-Andover, New Brunswick and Fort Fairfield, Maine.

The government of India and the unions representing the Major Port Trusts & Dock Labour Boards have reached an agreement. As a result, the All India Port and Dock Workers Federation has withdrawn their strike notice set for July 16.

CN HAS REDUCED DAILY TRAINS SERVICING THE PORT OF HALIFAX

Canadian National Railway has reduced the number of daily trains servicing the Port of Halifax from two to one due to weaker container traffic at the port.

On July 9, 2008, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) concluded its re-investigation of the normal values and export prices of bicycles from the People’s Republic of China and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan).

Thirty-one exporters provided sufficient information to allow them to request interim normal values for 2009
