The U.S. Department of Commerce announced affirmative preliminary determinations in the antidumping duty (AD) investigations of mattresses from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.

Commerce preliminarily determined that exporters from the countries listed below have dumped mattresses in the United States at the following margins:

  • 252.74 percent for Cambodia;
  • 2.61 percent for Indonesia;
  • 42.92 percent for Malaysia;

 

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced an additional 45 day transition period for compliance with the new marking rules for goods of Hong Kong. The 45 days is in addition to the 45 days announced in the original CSMS message (#43633412).

CBP is currently working on changes to a regulation that exempts goods from Section 301 China Tariffs when entered under the Section 321 De minimus.

A scarcity of workers at warehouses and transloading operations, coupled with a surge in imports tied to e-commerce, is causing containers to pile up near some US ports and putting pressure on marine terminals due to unreturned chassis.

On August 6, 2020 the United States announced a 10% tariff on imports of certain aluminum products from Canada.  These tariffs will take effect on August 16, 2020.

In response to these new tariffs, Canada intends to impose ‘dollar-for-dollar’ countermeasures on imports of aluminum and aluminum-containing products from the U.S.
