CUSTOMS TARIFF AMENDMENTS REMOVE DUTY ON MANUFACTURING INPUTS

As a result of submissions filed with the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and the Department of Finance, duty has been removed on various parts and materials used in Canadian manufactures. The following goods are duty-free into Canada retroactive to December 12, 2008:

  • Chemical compounds (IPPD) for use in the manufacture of rubber compounds (2921.51.00)
  • Nitenpyram for use in the manufacture of flea control products for dogs and cats (2933.39.90)
  • Nucleotide pyrimidinediamine disodium, for use in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals (2934.99.99)
  • Talalay latex for use in the manufacture of bedding products (4008.11.90)
  • Cotton fabrics for use in the manufacture of mattress pads (5208.22.90)
  • Plain weave cotton/polyester fabric for use in the manufacture of bed comforters (5210.51.00)
  • Nylon filament yarn for use in the manufacture of woven or knitted fabrics (5402.19.00, 5402.31.90, 5402.31.90. 5402.32.90)
  • Oak barrels to be employed in the fermentation or aging of beverage alcohol (4416.00.90)
  • Bleached or unbleached polyester yarn for use in the manufacture of woven or knitted fabrics or sewing threads (5402.33.90)
  • Polypropylene yarn for use in the manufacture of area rugs (5402.34.00)
  • Polypropylene strip for use in the manufacture of machine-tufted carpets (5407.20.99, 5803.00.99)
  • Woven fabrics, solely of yarns of textured polyester filaments for use as facing or braids in the manufacture of tuxedos (5407.52.90)
  • Printed polyester fabric for use in the manufacture of sleeping bags (5407.54.00)
  • Inserts for use in the manufacture of cycling shorts (6117.90.90)Freeze dryers (8419.39.91)
  • Woven or coated fabrics for use as outer coverings in the manufacture of upholstered seats and chairs
  • Parts for use in the manufacture of subway cars
  • Articles for use in the manufacture or repair of light rail vehicles, street cars and subway cars used by urban transit authorities
