Brazil has notified the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) of new certification requirements for the export of fish oil from Canada to Brazil. As a result of this, effective immediately, the current health certificates “Health Certificate for Fish and Fish Products for Wild Fisheries – For the Export of Eviscerated Finfish Products Intended for Human Consumption from Canada to Brazil” AQAH-1054 and the “Health Certificate for Fish and Fish Products for Wild Fisheries – For the Export of Uneviscerated Finfish Products Intended for Human Consumption from Canada to Brazil” AQAH-1055 shall no longer be issued for the export of fish oil for human consumption to Brazil.

Shipments of fish oil to Brazil accompanied with these certificates AQAH-1054 or AQAH-1055 may be detained by Brazilian authorities.

The CFIA has updated the fish and seafood export requirements for Brazil. A new export certificate is being finalized and a notice will be sent via Listserv when available.
