TRANSPACIFIC CARRIERS ANNOUNCE INCREASE IN BAF SURCHARGES
Effective October 1, 2009, CTSA carrier members will increase the Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) on ocean freight from Asia and the Indian sub-continent as follows:
For cargo moving to and via West Coast ports:
USD 96.00 per 20′ container
USD 120.00 per 40′ container
USD 135.00 per 40′ HC container
USD 152.00 per 45′ container
USD 2.00 W/M for LCL
For cargo moving to and via East Coast ports:
USD 182.00 per 20′ container
USD 228.00 per 40′ container
USD 257.00 per 40′ HC container
USD 287.00 per 45′ container
USD 4.00 W/M for LCL
PLEASE NOTE: The above BAF rates are to be added to current levels and are to remain in effect until December 31, 2009.
Surcharges are implemented by steamship lines and are required to help carriers adjust to increasing fuel costs and fluctuating currencies.
