Transpacific Ocean Carriers Announce PSS on Canadian Import Freight effective January 1, 2011

 

Transpacific carriers have announced their intention to implement a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) to take effect on January 1, 2011 at the following levels:

 

USD $8.00 / CBM (1 CBM = 600 kgs)

USD $320.00 / 20’ STD

USD $400.00 / 40’ STD

USD $450.00 / 40’ HC

 

USD $510.00 / 45’ HC

 

The abovementioned PSS amounts will be applicable to all ocean freight shipments from Asia & the Indian Sub-Continent, to all destinations in Canada.

 

This surcharge is applicable over and above all standing Omnitrans Ocean Freight Services Quotations, including rates issued prior to January showing PSS “included” or “N/A”

 

Ocean Carriers servicing the transpacific trade lanes from Asia to the USA have also expressed their intention to implement a PSS in January: the amounts will follow; pending individual carrier confirmation.
