The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced it has extended the preliminary phase of the investigation respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain carbon and alloy steel wire originating in or exported from China, Chinese Taipei, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam.
Due to the complexity or novelty of the issues presented by the investigation, number of persons involved, and difficulty of obtaining satisfactory evidence in the investigation, the period has been extended to 135 days.
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal determined in May that there is preliminary evidence that dumping have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury to Canadian industry. Provisional anti-dumping duties could be applied to the goods in question if CBSA confirms that they are the subject of dumping.
The decision to issue a preliminary determination or to terminate the investigation with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before September 4, 2025.
