China imposes 75.8% anti-dumping duty on Canadian canola seed.

The Government of China announced a preliminary anti-dumping duty decision on imports of canola seed from Canada, at a rate of 75.8%, set to enter into force on August 14, 2025.

China is the world's largest importer of canola - also known as rapeseed - and has been sourcing nearly all of its supplies of the product from Canada.

China's anti-dumping probe was launched in September 2024. A final determination on the duties will be issued September. The final ruling could result in a different rate or overturn Tuesday's decision.

China is the largest export market for Canadian canola seed, representing 67% of total canola seed exports and totalling 5.9 million tonnes in 2024, worth approximately $4 billion.
