China will impose tariffs on Canadian canola oil and meal, peas, fish, seafood and pork products.

The Government of China announced that it will be imposing a 100 percent tariff on Canadian canola oil and meal, and peas and a 25 percent tariff on fish, seafood and pork products.

The decision follows a Chinese investigation on the imposition by Canada of a 100 percent tariff on Chinese-made electric vehicles and a 25 percent tariff on Chinese steel and aluminum, both of which took effect in October 2024.

The Chinese tariffs are scheduled to come into effect on March 20.
