Extension of Steel Tariff Remission

The Government of Canada has announced updated measures to protect and strengthen the Canadian steel industry. As part of these measures, the temporary remission of Canadian tariffs on imported steel used in Canadian manufacturing, food and beverage packaging, and agricultural production has been extended and will now end on January 31, 2026.

This extension provides businesses with additional time to adjust supply chains and transition toward increased use of Canadian-produced steel. The government has emphasized that this shift is a key step in moving Canada toward a more resilient, self-sufficient industrial base.
