We are aware of ongoing system delays affecting CFIA submissions, CBSA import declarations, as well as EDI and eManifest Portal messages. CBSA is receiving inbound data but is unable to process and send outbound messages through EDI or eManifest. This is resulting in significant delays in the clearance of shipments.
In addition, there are processing delays with paper entries at the border. Importers can expect extended wait times for clearance in these cases.
To avoid unnecessary delays and costs, we recommend holding off on dispatching trucks until the outage and system issues have been resolved. This will help minimize the risk of shipments being delayed at the border.
The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority has issued an alert regarding current conditions at the Peace Bridge border crossing. All Canada-bound commercial carriers are strongly advised to avoid this crossing until further notice due to ongoing processing delays related to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) systems outage that occurred earlier this week.
Please be aware that Omnitrans cannot assume responsibility for any storage charges, bond fees, or waiting time fees that may arise as a result of these CBSA-related delays. Menzies, CP, and CN have already advised that they will not extend Last Free Days (LFD) or negotiate storage fees due to the ongoing issues, as the delays are entirely outside of their control and related to CBSA systems.
According to the latest update from CBSA, the root cause of the issue has been identified but not yet resolved. There is currently no estimated time for full resolution. Due to the volume of messages that need to be processed, delays are expected to continue through the weekend. This issue is affecting all clients and service providers using EDI and the eManifest portal.
Our team is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with the authorities for updates. We will continue to keep you advised as further information becomes available.
