Tribunal initiates review of expiry of duties on steel fasteners from China and Chinese Taipei.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an expiry review of its order made in September 2020 to determine if the expiry of the order is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping of certain carbon steel fasteners originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu (Chinese Taipei), and the subsidizing of such products originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China and and it this would likely result in injury to the Canadian industry.

In the first step of the review the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will determine, by October 2, 2025, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping or subsidizing if the Tribunal's order is left to expire.

In the event of a positive determination by the CBSA the Tribunal will determine, by March 11, 2026, whether the continued or resumed dumping or subsidizing is likely to result in injury to the domestic industry.
